Capitol Hill “sports bar for everybody” Pitch the Baby appears to still be in the game but a new food and drink player is joining the 19th Ave E scene.
A few dark nights and unexpected closures caused a few concerns — and emails to CHS — but the sports bar was open and serving this week as the Mariners spent their evenings sinking another season. The change is coming next door where signage has gone up announcing a new Pitch the Baby neighbor.
206 Burger Company is set to move in next door and revive the space adjoining the sports bar that has struggled to find its footing.
CHS reported early this year as Pitch the Baby expanded into the other half of the long ago Kingfish Cafe space as the Monica Dimas-backed Tortas Condesa venture was consolidated.
A half-year and 82 Mariners losses later and Pitch the Baby appears ready to downsize and reduce its footprint to the main bar space of the old Kingfish. We’ve asked Dimas and the rest of the Pitch the Baby partnership for details but have not heard back.
206 Burger owner Suren Shretha, meanwhile, tells us there will be more information soon on the link up.
Pitch the Baby debuted in late summer 2025 as Rocket Taco moved across the street to its new home on the southeast side of 19th and Mercer.
This will be the third 206 Burger location. In 2024, Shretha and the small chain took over the former 8 Oz. burger bar location at Broadway and Union as the Nepal-born burger entrepreneur gets his plans of careful expansion back on track after the economic bumps of the pandemic.
