- Dave’s Hot Chicken gun disturbance: Police took to into custody and seized two firearms including a stolen handgun in an overnight call to Dave’s Hot Chicken early Saturday morning. Officers were sent to the 12th and Pike eatery around 4 AM to the report of two armed men causing a disturbance as the popular restaurant was preparing to close for the night. “Both men had ordered food, been displeased with their service, and left before returning to the restaurant and arguing with staff,” the report on the incident reads. Police say employees activated “a duress alarm,” notifying security and police. According to SPD, arriving officers saw a “30-round .556 magazine protruding from one man’s shirt” and took the two suspects into custody. A search of the 21 and 28-year-old turned up “a short-barreled rifle with a 30-round magazine” under one man’s jacket and a pistol reported stolen in Tacoma in the pocket of the other. One of the suspects also had a $5,000 DUI warrant for his arrest. There were no reported injuries. The Dave’s Hot Chicken incident comes a few weeks following an incident at the Capitol Hill Eggslut in which a man reportedly accidentally fired off his pistol as he dropped the weapon while waiting in line for a breakfast sandwich. Police believe that gunman may have shot himself before fleeing that incident without arrest.
