Another night of gunfire across blocks of the Central District generated 911 calls but fortunately no reported injuries.
Beginning around 2:23 AM, emergency dispatch received 911 calls tracking the gunfire across the neighborhood, according to East Precinct radio updates.
Reports came in of seven shots fired near the intersection of 21st and E Cherry. More calls followed including a report near 17th Ave hearing five shots from the west before watching a vehicle speed away eastbound along E Jefferson. Five to nine shots were also reported near Campbell Place, 24th and Yesler, and along 12th Ave, where a witness reported seeing muzzle flashes from the west.
Responding officers said the dispersed calls appeared to stem from a single moving gunfire incident.
The East Precinct investigation overlapped with another gunfire incident across I-5. Around 2:25 AM, officers responded to a separate shooting outside Minor Ave clubs near Howell following a large street brawl. Dispatch said a man was found bleeding from the head but had not been shot. The armed suspect reportedly fled eastbound on foot.
Sunday’s early morning gunfire was just blocks from the scenes of a Friday night shootout in the Central District that also fortunately left no injuries.
