• Fatal I-5 fall: A woman died in a fall from I-5 Saturday night. Seattle Fire says its crews responded to Lakeview Blvd below the freeway just before 9 PM to a report a person in crisis had jumped or fell. The 30-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The scene was turned over to Washington State Patrol and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. • Bakery Nouveau break-in: Commercial break-ins have been so common on Capitol Hill that they rarely make the news. An overnight burglary at Capitol Hill’s Bakery Nouveau did get some attention as weekend customers had to go without fresh-baked goods Sunday morning after the break-in. The 15th at John bakery and shop was able to reopen but the damage was the latest costly incident to hit a neighborhood small business. There is some good news. Recent trends show reported commercial burglaries dropping across the Hill from the heights of around five reported per day in late 2025. Long-term trends persist, however, with about 40% of the break-ins occurring along Broadway or in Pike/Pine. Hopefully the 15th and John break-in at Bakery Nouveau wasn’t the start of a new trend.
• 10th and Union car vs. ped: Police and Seattle Fire were called after a driver hit a pedestrian early Sunday morning at 10th and Union. Seattle Fire crews assisted an approximately 59-year-old male with a minor injury in the just before 2 AM incident.. The patient refused further care, according to SFD.
• Bus vs. scooter: Crews responded Tuesday morning to a report of a Metro bus collision with an e-scooter on Broadway in front of Capitol Hill Station. Seattle Fire says it treated the scooter 18-year-old rider in stable condition at the scene. The patient was transported to Harborview by medics.
• 17th Ave arrest struggle: SPD says multiple officers suffered assault taking a man experiencing a mental health crisis into custody for trespassing early last Wednesday morning. According to police, officers were responding to the 6:40 AM call at a facility on 17th Ave to contact the suspect when the man assaulted the officers. Two police were treated at Harborview for minor injuries. The suspect required treatment at Harborview prior to being booked in the incident.
• Milkshake assault at crisis response: First responders were assaulted with a milkshake in another Capitol Hill incident involving a person in crisis but the perpetrator was not the initial target of SPD’s activity. Officers were called to 10th Ave E around 9:30 PM on Monday, August 31st to a report of a woman in crisis “trying to get hit by cars at a busy intersection during hours of darkness.” “Officers managed to emergently detain the highly escalated woman, and AMR arrived for transport. As the team was loading the woman into the AMR, an escalated group of people (strangers to all parties) started yelling at them, demanding they let the woman go,” SPD’s report on the incident reads. Police report one person threw a milkshake at the officers but it struck the responding emergency medical technician. Police took the milkshake tosser into custody. The woman was transported for treatment.
• Gun threat arrest: Police say they took two suspects into custody and recovered a ditched gun in a Thursday, August 27th incident at 24th and Fir. Police say they were flagged down by a victim who reported a group had pointed a gun at him. The victim was able to point out the suspects as they walked nearby. Officers detained the group and located a gun in a nearby garbage can. SPD says two suspects were arrested and booked into King County Jail.
