911 | Gas station carjacking reported on Broadway, more Organized Retail Theft Operation busts at Capitol Hill Walgreens

• Broadway carjacking: A man was robbed of his car at gunpoint late last Tuesday night at the North Broadway 76 station. According to the SPD report on the just after 11:30 PM incident and East Precinct radio updates, the victim was approached by two men with guns and made to stand against the wall of the gas station as they took his wallet and then ripped off with his BMW. Police say the suspects were also driving a white BMW. The stolen ride was last seen headed eastbound. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. There were no reported arrests or injuries.
• Organized Retail Theft Operation busts on 15th Ave E: Police say they conducted their latest Organized Retail Theft Operation busts at a Capitol Hill Walgreens. According to SPD, East Precinct officers and detectives from the General Investigations Unit rant the Organized Retail Theft Operation at the Walgreens in the 500 block of 15th Ave E last Friday. SPD reports thirteen arrests were made, including four felony warrants. Police say $1,000 worth of merchandise was recovered. The beleaguered Capitol Hill pharmacy has become a favorite target for East Precinct busts. In June, CHS reported on an previous operation that netted 13 arrests. The SPD operations typically entail police working with loss prevention security staff at the stores to identify people stealing merchandise and then making arrests. Arrests are made while others are simply trespassed from the property so they can be arrested if they try to return.
