After 10 years on E Jefferson, Peloton Cafe’s ride continues
Earlier this month, CHS reported on the global cycling brand Rapha shutting down its Capitol Hill “clubhouse” as part of worldwide cutbacks for the London-based sportswear brand.
On E Jefferson, a much more local ride continues. January marks the 10-year anniversary for the Peloton Cafe Bike Shop.
“The coffee and the beer and the bikes. It’s just a lifestyle kind of thing,” co-founder Dustin Riggs told CHS about the project at the time as a group of bike riders, bike mechanics, and a bike cook got together to form the Peloton Cafe at 13th and Jeff.
In 2022, the cafe expanded to fill the corner. “We were looking for a new spot, talking to some real estate people, but we did not want to leave,” Riggs said then.

Along the way, the area around E Jefferson and 12th Ave has become home to an eclectic mix of food and drink projects including a Boona Boona Coffee shop (2021), the original Ba Bar (2011), and L’Oursin (2016). Long-timers like Zobel Ethiopian Cuisine, Migoto sushi, and Peloton neighbor Taste of the Caribbean still dot the blocks.
Today, the Peloton crew is happy to still be part of the neighborhood. “Feels like a different life and a different city, but each year we gather our experiences and move forward as best we can,” they said in their anniversary announcement. “We know we are lucky to still be here, and lucky to be drenched in the community that has rallied around us over the past decade. I wish I had pictures of everyone that has contributed to this thing, even a small amount. 2025 was another weird ride, here’s to looking ahead.”
Peloton Cafe will be celebrating its 10th birthday at 1224 E Jefferson with a party Friday, January 30th. Pedal by.
