  • Walgreens hold-up: Seattle Police fanned out around Broadway and Pine Saturday searching for what they called a “serial robbery suspect” after an attempted hold-up at the corner’s Walgreens. Police say the suspect entered the store around 3 PM Saturday, “demanded three prepaid credit cards be activated, and showed a black gun in his waistband.,” according to SPD’s brief on the incident. The same suspect is believed to have also robbed the store Friday morning, brandishing a knife and stealing “food items” before making his getaway on a Metro bus. Saturday, the drugstore employee refused to comply and the would-be bandit fled, last seen headed west on Pine. Police set up containment in the area but could not locate the suspect described as a black male wearing a mask, a hoodie, and green sweats at the time of the hold-up attempt. There were no reported injuries.
  • First Hill assault: Police say a man was beaten and stabbed in an incident Saturday night on First Hill:
At 1813 hours, the victim was moving a scooter and other garbage out of the street when a car full of young people, pulled over. One of them exited, began punching the victim, then stabbed the victim’s right arm. The suspect got back into the vehicle, and it fled northbound on Boren. Patrol officers quickly arrived and applied first aid until SFD arrived and took over medical care.
Police say the injury was not life-threatening. A search for the suspect vehicle last seen headed westbound on Madison was not successful.
  • Nightlife emphasis patrols: East Precinct command has been providing semi-regular updates on its weekend nightlife emphasis work in the Pike/Pine neighborhood. Saturday night’s brief notes “frigid temperatures,” “heavy foot traffic,” and multiple arrests —
At 2200 hours, Nightlife was a busy night tonight despite the frigid temperature. With heavy foot traffic at the clubs in the Pike corridor, officers were able to successfully, effectively and safely manage approximately 1000 people excited to party. Officers responded to multiple disturbances and made arrests for traffic, assault 4 and two assault 3’s. No officers were injured effecting the arrests. A great job done by all those present for nightlife.
