Back in May, we told you about CraftLab Seattle‘s plan to open a studio on the north edge of The Junction, at 4411 California SW, more than four years after it was founded in a West Seattle home, with classes, workshops, and events around the city. At the time of our story, they hoped to open in mid-September. They’ve now set the date, and they’re not far behind that – this Saturday, October 3, they’re opening with a free community open house, 11 am to 5 pm, including a ribboncutting at noon. They’re offering studio tours, free crafting, and snacks. CraftLab Seattle founder Laura Duris says that “sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at CraftLab” – with projects featuring “upcycled, donated, and thrifted materials from our own community — giving fabric scraps, jars, tiles, paper, and other everyday items a second life as art.” All are welcome at Saturday’s open house, free to attend, but they’re requesting registration here.
