The Southwest Library is doubling as art gallery for the next four weeks. It’s the 34th annual Southwest Artist Showcase, a non-judged show for which community members were invited to bring in creations to display. We visited during the opening reception today and saw a wide variety of work – like this matchstick model of a “Star Wars” Starfighter jet:
The artist is Jhun Carpio:
Also at today’s reception: Highland Park artist Dina Lydia:
She’s showing her mixed-media work “Waiting for Spring.” Others with work on display include Tiah Schindelman Rodriguez, below with watercolor “The Jeweled Bird”:
The current boom in ceramics/pottery is represented too – Misato Matsuo-Monsma is showing a cup:
And Robbie Diaz sketched a Kei Truck:
You can admire the art any time during regular Southwest Library hours through Sunday, November 1. The library is at 9010 35th SW.
