Cops chase down suspect making threats with hammer at 10th and John
Seattle Police used a pepper ball blast and a Taser gun to apprehend a suspect reportedly threatening people with a hammer and a machete Wednesday evening near 10th and John.
Seattle Fire was called to the Station House apartment building above Capitol Hill Station around 5:15 PM to treat the suspect following the arrest.
According to East Precinct radio updates, the suspect was reportedly threatening people in the area with a hammer. As police tracked him and chased him down inside the nearby building they also reported the man was carrying a machete.
Officers reported the suspect in custody after deployment of the non-lethal weapons.
The arrest was not related to the SPD response to the 10/7 demonstration against the war in Gaza earlier in the day. SPD said the King County Sheriff helicopter unit Guardian One that was busy above the Hill Wednesday was part of its efforts to monitor demonstration crowds.
