WEST SEATTLE LIGHT RAIL: Sound Transit releases ‘flyover’ simulation
What you can watch above is a three-minute “flyover” simulation of the Sound Transit light-rail extension between SODO and West Seattle, just released by ST, which explains: “The video renders project design decisions through July 2026 into a 3D model that includes site-specific geotechnical information gathered through fieldwork. Note the real-world soil conditions represented as the train travels through the tunnel to Alaska Junction.” This comes after the West Seattle extension, currently projected to open in 2035, reached the milestone of 30 percent design this summer. ST elaborates a bit on the video in this post on its “Platform” site. Meantime, ST’s pursuing property acquisitions, and has another drop-in info session next Wednesday in SODO at noon.
