READER REPORT: SDOT installation for ‘School Street’ on 45th SW by Madison Middle School

Today at around 9am SDOT installed these 4 concrete barriers with new signage on 45th Ave SW in front of Madison Middle School. Two are located at 45th and Hinds, and two more at 45th and Spokane. One of the barriers at Spokane is offset slightly to leave room for fire hydrant access. These are part of the ongoing conversion of the school street from temporary to permanent status.

It’s been almost two years since the “School Street” changes were launched. The concept is explained here; other local schools with them include Genesee Hill Elementary and Holy Family Bilingual Catholic School.
