PREVIEW: Drum and sing tomorrow to call salmon home to Fauntleroy Creek

What coho salmon need most right now to get into Fauntleroy Creek is rain, notes longtime creek steward Judy Pickens. That’s not in the forecast for tomorrow, but you can offer symbolic encouragement by joining an annual all-ages tradition: Gathering to sing and drum to call them home. It’s after the day’s other major events, and a memorable way to conclude the last full weekend of October. All you have to do to join in is come to the corner of SW Director and upper Fauntleroy Way, across and upslope from the ferry dock, next to the fish-ladder overlook. Bring a drum if you have one, but simply lending your voice and your spirit will work too. It’s a relatively short gathering, starting at 4 pm. See you there!
