BIZNOTE: Self-serve Car Wash Palace closes in West Seattle

Thanks to Jessica for the photos and tip. The self-serve Car Wash Palace at 6301 35th SW is closed, its bays and lot taped off, its sign gone.

We don’t know how long it’s been closed (we were there to vacuum our car a few weeks ago). Right after receiving Jessica’s note, we went over for a look. Nobody was there to ask, and no explanatory signage was in view. We called two numbers we found online for the business; one went to voicemail but someone answered the other. They told us their company “only has the one in White Center now”; they did not know whether another operator might take over the West Seattle location. We also subsequently found the West Seattle site has been listed for sale for a while, as a potential development site: “The property shall provide Olympic Mountain and water views for a multi-story apartment building or townhomes. The gently sloping topography of the site shall allow parking below project’s 35th Avenue Southwest street level with access to parking to be at grade on west side with direct access from alley. The property shall provide Olympic Mountain and water views for a multi-story apartment building or townhomes. The gently sloping topography of the site shall allow parking below project’s 35th Avenue Southwest street level with access to parking to be at grade on west side with direct access from alley. The property offers picturesque views of Olympic Mountains. The property is located adjacent to 35th Avenue Southwest arterial, a main transit corridor, providing rapid transit bus service to downtown Seattle and Light Rail Service.” No record of an ownership change so far.
