The volunteer MLK Jr Organizing Coalition took inspiration from a MLK question for this year’s day of workshops, gatherings, and marching from the Central District’s Garfield High School — Where Do We Go From Here?
In his 1967 book, King presented two choices — Chaos or Community? 59 years later as hundreds marched from 23rd Ave, there were many, many more answers as the issues of the day were carried forward by marchers — equity, equality, ICE, Palestine, labor, housing, and more. “We choose community,” signs from the organizers read.
Around 4,000 people take part in the Central District MLK event annually.
