Thanks for the tip. 2 1/2 years after we reported on the sentencing of Johny Mixayboua for stealing two mail trucks in West Seattle, he’s facing new felony charges. Regional media firstreported on the new case in which Bellevue Police arrested Mixayboua for what started as a shoplifting investigation at a CVS and turned out to include a car stolen in West Seattle. We just obtained the charging documents in the newest cases. What they don’t explain is why he was out and when he got out – we also found a felony charge filed in a July car theft in South Seattle, and those documents indicated he was in the federal jail in SeaTac at the time, but by last Sunday – when he was arrested in Bellevue – he was out. In the Bellevue case, though he was originally detained for alleged shoplifting, he is charged so far with three felonies for what police say happened outside the store – one count of attempted assault for trying to pull a loaded gun out of his pants while being arrested, allegedly with the intent of shooting officers; unlawful gun possession because he’s already a convicted felon (18 times); and making a false statement (for allegedly giving officers two bogus names).
Here’s where the stolen car comes in: According to the narrative in the charging documents, an Audi key fob was found during the Bellevue arrest, and the car to which it belonged was found nearby. It was found to have been stolen from the 3900 block of SW Webster in Gatewood; the owner had accidentally left the key fob in the car. One of its plates had been swapped out (and the owners said later that its wheels had been changed). Items found inside it included a variety of likely stolen credit and bank cars, ammunition, and a backpack containing items including drug paraphernalia and what police described as “an improvised explosive device.” Surveillance video shows him getting out of the car in the lot, the documents say. Mixayboua, now 30, is in the King County Jail, in lieu of $550,000 bail, and due to be arraigned next week.
