FERRY CRISIS: Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth service resuming after all-day outage

6:08 PM: Washington State Ferries‘ “Triangle Route” – Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth – has been out of service all day as part of a systemwide crisis that ensued after 23 engine-room employees called in sick and WSF couldn’t get fill-ins. (We’ve been updating here.) WSF has restored some of the other service lost throughout the day around the system, and now it says Triangle Route service will be resuming within the hour – “The route will run 2-boat schedules with the 3rd unscheduled boat.” You can check the real-time map here; as of this writing, it looks like M/V Kitsap is heading from Vashon to Southworth, with M/V Kittitas and M/V Cathlamet still docked at Vashon.
7:52 PM: As for tomorrow, WSF says, “For Tuesday, Oct. 6, we anticipate operating more normal service across the system. Customers should continue to check our rider alerts before traveling for the latest route specific service information, as schedules remain subject to change based on crew and vessel availability.”
