FOLLOWUP: 25th/Barton all-way stop, and other Metro proposals for Route 60
Back in January, we reported on Metro‘s announcement of possible changes to save time on Route 60, which goes between Westwood Village and Capitol Hill. At the time, Metro asked for feedback, including via a survey. Today, it’s out with recommendations on which changes to pursue. Of 39 “concepts” – all detailed here – the last three are in West Seattle. A big one was not spotlighted in January – making 25th/Barton an all-way stop, on the new list as Concept 39. Here’s the schematic from the “10 percent design” phase:
The other two are Concept 37, changes at 2nd/Olson – heading into the park-and-ride by Arrowhead Gardens – which would include a signal, and Concept 38, changes at 22nd/Barton Place/Henderson, including stop closures and moves.
But none of this is a sure thing. More money is needed before design can go further, Metro’s overview says:
The planning study recommendations will inform a future budget request for funding the design and delivery phases of this project, which are currently unfunded. Metro will regularly review the timeline for design and delivery of improvements contingent on funding availability and partnership opportunities. Community engagement will continue in the next phase of design when funding becomes available.
Cost estimates for the three West Seattle concepts range from $36,000 for the 25th/Barton change to $1.4 million for the Olson/Myers change.
