Tiny houses have arrived at the southeast West Seattle site of Glassyard Commons, planned for 20 tiny houses and 72 RVs, sheltering about 140 people. It’s been four weeks since the ceremonial groundbreaking (WSB coverage here) to be operated by the Low-Income Housing Institute, the nonprofit that runs most of the city’s tiny-house villages; site-prep work actually began in late July. At last month’s ceremony, LIHI reiterated that they expect to open Glassyard Commons – named because the state-owned site at 7200 2nd SW was known as the WSDOT “Glassyard” – in November. We are checking back to see if they’re still on target. It’s been almost nine months since we first reported the plan after discovering it in city permit filings.
