From the rink to the stage to the field, here’s what’s up for your West Seattle Friday

Just hours after last night’s glorious sunset (thanks to James Bratsanos for the photo above), the rain returned, but that’s no reason to stay home! What follows are highlights for the rest of October’s first Friday, mostly from the WSB West Seattle Event Calendar:

TONY’S PUMPKIN PATCH OPENING DAY: As previewed here, now open at 35th/Barton, 9 am-7 pm daily.

SOUTHWEST ARTIST SHOWCASE: 10 am to 6 pm today, visit Southwest Library (9010 35th SW) to see the work on display this year!

SOUTH SEATTLE COLLEGE GARDEN CENTER: Fall gardening? The center has plants! Open until 3 pm on the north end of the main campus of South Seattle College (6000 16th SW; WSB sponsor).

NO BABY STORY TIME: 11 am story time at Delridge Library is canceled this week.

VISIT THE LOG HOUSE MUSEUM: Open noon-4 pm on Fridays – the home of West Seattle’s history. (3003 61st SW)

ENGLISH CONVERSATION CIRCLE: Practice with other adult learners at High Point Library (3411 SW Raymond), 12:30-2 pm.

LISTENING STATION AT EASY STREET: 4 pm-8 pm, Ecca Vandal listening station at Easy Street Records (4559 California SW), free, all ages.

‘BACK TO OUR ROOTS’: White Center Food Bank‘s fall fundraiser, 5 pm at the White Center HUB (8th SW and SW 108th).

TASTING ROOM AND WINE BAR: Viscon Cellars (5910 California SW; WSB sponsor) is open 5-9 pm Fridays. Stop in to sip, and/or buy a bottle.

MUSIC AT THE COFFEEHOUSE: 6-8 pm, monthly Songwriters’ Showcase at C & P Coffee (5612 California SW; WSB sponsor), no cover, all ages.

FREE SWING DANCING: All welcome to this free “social dance” at Puget Ridge Cohousing (7020 18th SW), 6-8 pm.

LIVE AT KENYON HALL: Kenyon Hall Cabaret drag with a costume contest for Halloween season, 6:30 pm (7904 35th SW).

LIVE AT MR. B’S: 7 pm, Whisperite, All This For That, The Passion Racket at Mr. B’s Mead Center (9444 Delridge Way SW), free, all ages.

HIGH-SCHOOL FOOTBALL: One home game, 7 pm at Nino Cantu SW Athletic Complex (2801 SW Thistle) – West Seattle HS hosts Seattle Prep.

‘THE CHINESE LADY’ AT ARTSWEST: 7:30 pm, final weekend for “The Chinese Lady” at ArtsWest (4711 California SW) – info including ticket link is in our calendar listing.

LIVE AT THE SKYLARK: 7 pm, The Elephant Room single-release show with Kaiya Buffelen, The Hobby. $10 at the door, all ages. (3803 Delridge Way SW)

LIVE AT TIM’S: Gniffke, Drop the Star, Chairs for Giants, 8 pm at Tim’s Tavern (16th/98th, White Center), all ages.

SPINNING: Revelry Room (4547 California SW) regular Friday night spinning – with DJ Grizz tonight, starting at 9 pm.

‘MAKE IT LOUD’ SKATING WITH MUSIC: Tonight, “an evening with the Highsteppers, Seattle’s classic soul heavy hitters,” 9 pm at Southgate Roller Rink (9646 17th SW). 21+. $20 cover/$5 skates.

MEGASTAR KARAOKE: 9 pm at Max’s Triangle Pub (9454 Delridge Way SW).
