Groups holding ‘Abolish Ice’ vigil and march for Renee Nicole Good on the Seattle Waterfront

An “Abolish Ice” vigil for Renee Nicole Good is being organized by activists and community groups Thursday night on the Seattle Waterfront.

Local organizers for Seattle Indivisible and Defund Musk announced the planned 6:30 PM gathering will be followed by a march from Pier 58:

We are committed to nonviolent action. This event is a protected expression of our First Amendment rights. We expect all participants to avoid escalating confrontations with those who disagree with our values. We prioritize keeping all members of our community safe. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Good was killed when an ICE agent shot into her vehicle during an encounter Wednesday morning in Minneapolis in which video evidence contradicts the Trump administration’s claims that the 37-year-old was trying to commit an act of “domestic terrorism.”

The deadly shooting comes as Homeland Security has said it is flooding Minnesota with up to 2,000 officers in a crackdown tied to allegations of fraud involving Somali daycares.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson released a statement last week expressing solidarity with the “Somali childcare providers who have experienced targeted harassment, and condemn the surveillance campaign promoted by extremist influencers.”
