EDMONDS, Wash. — A 21-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection to the fatal shooting of a rideshare driver in Edmonds last week.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Edmonds Way and 236th Street SW just after 10:15 p.m. exactly one week ago on Jan. 3. Witnesses told police that a pedestrian fired at least seven shots at a vehicle.
The man inside that vehicle, identified as Abdikadir Gedi Shariif, 31, was shot and taken to the hospital, where he later died, according to police. Shariif was from Somalia, but lived in SeaTac, and had been driving for Uber and Lyft full-time for almost a decade to support his elderly parents.
