Seattle Fire reports its crews were dispatched shortly before 9:00 PM following reports of a fire inside a multi-family residence. Seattle Fire Department described the structure as a two-story apartment building with a basement with the fire located on the top floor.
Firefighters got water on the flames, brought the fire under control, and initiated ventilation operations.
A search confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the building. Although smoke was observed issuing from the eaves, crews determined it was residual smoke from the second floor with no extension of the fire into the building’s attic space.
The structure has stood on the block for 125 years. Originally a single family residents, it was converted into a nine-unit apartment building and is today owned and operated by Cederstrand Rentals.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
