There were no reported injuries as shots were fired Saturday night in a dispute amid Pike/Pine nightlife crowds.

Callers reported gunfire in the area just after 7:15 PM. According to East Precinct radio updates, police were called to 10th Ave between Pike and Union where a caller reported bullet damage to a window.

Arriving officers recovered shell casings but found no signs of injuries.

Police were looking for a suspect reported as a black male wearing a red jacket and blue jeans.

There were no immediate arrests.

The gunfire comes as community groups have called for more public safety resources from the city in the area around Cal Anderson Park and the Pike/Pine nightlife core as 2027 budget deliberations begin. District 3 representative and Council President Joy Hollingsworth has been critical of Mayor Katie Wilson’s public safety approach and has spoken against any cuts to police recruitment spending. Wilson’s budget also calls for the CARE Department to grow its resources as a command center in a new gun violence plan. The Seattle City Attorney is also adding new prosecuting resources for drug dealing and gun violence cases.

Stats show some glimmers of 2026 improvement as crime on Capitol Hill has grown over the past decade amid efforts to improve public safety downtown.
