The end for The Vajra, the metaphysical boutique whose challenges with neighborhood crime, drug use, and homelessness fueled its owner’s Republican run for the Seattle City Council, is coming with challenges around rent and legal notices.
Several CHS readers have sent in tips about the notice posted on the shuttered North Broadway shop’s door notifying ownership of more than $5,000 in unpaid rent and property taxes.
Rachel Savage and her Savage Citizens political campaign have not responded to CHS’s questions about the notice.
CHS reported here in December as Savage announced The Vajra would be closing and going “online only” after 36 years on Broadway.
Listings for a sale of the shop have been posted but permit records don’t show any plans for a new tenant in the space.
Alexis Mercedes Rinck.trounced Savage in November with the shop owner falling short in nearly every precinct of the city except those between Broadmoor and Madison Park.
In her “Savage Citizens” advocacy, Savage has also organized for an initiative to ban homeless camping in Seattle and has raised opposition to the planned development of a Downtown Emergency Service Center supportive housing facility on Belmont Ave.
