It was party time at South Seattle College (WSB sponsor) on Puget Ridge this afternoon, celebrating the 10th birthday of the college’s mascot, Olivia the Otter. WSB contributing photojournalist Oliver Hamlin was there for the combination birthday party and resource fair at Brockey Center on campus, as were hundreds of students and staffers.
Olivia mingled, offering and receiving high-tens:
High-fives too:
Everyone got the chance to sign a giant banner/card with birthday wishes:
And of course there was a birthday cake – a carrot cake created by SSC’s legendary culinary program:
The culinary students of course got a photo-op with Olivia:
Other photo opportunities at the party included a “wishing tree”:
Some partygoers also got prizes for filling out a passport with visits to different tables/booths.
Olivia’s 10th birthday also celebrated the South Seattle College Foundation‘s $10 for 10 Challenge, matching donations of up to $2,500 (follow that link!) to support students and programs.
