The public outreach process around Mayor Katie Wilson’s search for a new chief of the Seattle Police Department will come to Capitol Hill next week.
The “Central” edition of three planned Police Chief Search Community Listening Sessions will take place Monday, September 28th on the Seattle University campus:
Monday’s session is scheduled to run 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Seattle University’s Campion Ballroom at 914 E Jefferson.

Wilson’s search for new Seattle Police chief launched with an advisory committee, online survey for public priorities, and a “$234,294.48 – $374,900.40” salary range in August.
The recruitment follows a turbulent period after the removal of former Chief Shon Barnes amid fallout from a deadly Seattle Center shootout, leaving interim Chief Andre Sayles currently at the helm.
Wilson has stressed that the next permanent chief must not only rebuild internal culture and bridge community relations, but also champion alternative public safety solutions by growing the role played by the city’s unarmed civilian CARE crisis responders.
