ROAD WORK, WEATHER, TRANSIT, TRAFFIC: Monday info, with Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth ferry route out of service (updated)

7:20 AM: This morning’s systemwide crew shortage (originally noted below) now has Washington State Ferries‘ Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth route totally out of service. They’re updating here. The South Vashon route (regularly one, smaller boat) is operating per Vessel Watch.

9 AM: Still out, and this screenshot from the real-time page shows only 6 ferries in operation systemmwide:

9:45 AM: WSF has posted an update via X – saying, “This morning, 23 engine-room employees called in sick, Every employee qualified to fill those positions has declined to fill them and keep the ferries running.” The WSF tweets go on to mention the employees’ union and base salary, and why the boats can’t run without these employees. Also via X, the governor says he’s “meeting with WSF leadership” about the situation.
