Flash bang explosions rattled Capitol Hill Monday afternoon as Seattle Police took a man into custody after a six-hour standoff.
SPD says it was called to the 400-block Boylston Ave E building around 10:45 AM as the suspect was reported “making threats to assault people and using racial slurs.”
The suspect, believed to be in his mid-30s, barricaded himself inside of his residence, refusing to come out. Patrol officers and SPD’s lead Negotiator made multiple attempts to get the suspect to surrender to police. Officres developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for Hate Crime Offense. During the encounter, the suspect also reportedly threatened to kill officers.
Around 4:45 PM, explosions could be heard in the area as the SWAT team moved in and took the suspect into custody.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail.
Sunday, a man died after he fell from an upper story apartment window following a day of crisis behavior and stand-offs with police.
