This year’s Capitol Hill Christmas Dive Bar will temporarily take over storied nightclub space

It is October 1st so it is time to start thinking about… Christmas.

A storied Pike/Pine nightclub will be temporarily revived for the holiday season as this year’s edition of the Capitol Hill Christmas Dive Bar has found a new home.

Joey Burgess says the 2026 edition of the popular seasonal pop-up bar will make its home in the space previously home to Havana. While the longtime owner of Pike/Pine bars, clubs, and retail venues didn’t rule anything out, it is unlikely that the Christmas Dive Bar’s appearance has much to do with the old Havana’s future. Still, the planned pop-up will bring seasonal energy and festive crowds to the block at 10th and Pike through the holidays.

CHS reported here this summer as designer and musician Quentin Ertel announced he was closing Havana after 20 years of Pike/Pine nightlife.

Burgess and husband Murf Hall, meanwhile, have been busy downsizing their Pike/Pine business family after selling off their core neighborhood nightlife holding, Queer/Bar, to the ownership at The Cuff.

As for the Dive Bar, Burgess and Hall have turned the pop-up into a holiday tradition and a business opportunity strong enough to continue for their bottom line and the end of year finances of staff. Last year, Santa, snowflake, and Christmas lights took over the Queer/Bar space through December. The Christmas Dive Bar is usually lined up for a Thanksgiving-approximate debut.

The long-term future of the old Havana remains up in the air as does another key space in the the Hunters Capital-owned building. CHS reported here on the planned closure of the Capitol Hill Glossier as part of a worldwide pullback in the company’s retail ambitions. The store is set to be shuttered permanently in January. Meanwhile, neighboring Poquitos has new ownership.

The Christmas Dive Bar will return this year at 1010 E Pike. Follow @christmasdivebar for updates.
