CHS Pics | With Cinco de Mayo celebration, Fogon gets Capitol Hill’s 2026 ‘Block Party’ season started

There were growing pains for Capitol Hill’s newest “Block Party” but going by the smiles in the crowd by Sunday night, Fogon elevating its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration into a full-blown street party was a success.

“It wasn’t perfect,” Seattle personality and event producer Corteezyy said Saturday night in a video update after a a first day with logistical issues around lines and security. Refunds on the $10 gate charge were available.

CHS reported here on the expanded plans for the E Pine Mexican restaurant’s celebration including two days of DJs and dancing on Belmont Ave just off E Pine.

Sunday’s second day went much smoother and the music and crowds provided a happy start of the neighborhood’s 2026 block party season including Pride, neighborhood street parties, and, yes, the three-day Capitol Hill Block Party music festival set to take place this year in August.
