4:38 PM: Seattle Fire is sending a hazmat response to an address in the 4700 block of West Marginal Way SW that crossreferences to the Duwamish Longhouse. SFD describes it as “a potentially hazardous chemical spill inside a commercial building.” Updates to come; avoid the area.
4:44 PM: SFD says firefighters are evacuating everyone just to be safe. Meantime, SPD says West Marginal is closed both ways.
4:47 PM: Update – they’re going to leave some lanes open for traffic to get through. Meantime, worth noting, the longhouse’s cultural center is not usually open to visitors on Mondays.
5:34 PM: Not resolved yet, though SFD says firefighters finally were able to go into the building to investigate.
6:29 PM: SFD says crews “collected the substance and safely removed it from the building,” which has been deemed safe to reoccupy, and now units are being dismissed.
