The King County Medical Examiner says Solomon Thompson, 38, died of multiple gunshot wounds on the northwest corner of Pine and Belmont.
Daniel Carlee, 41, remains held on $2 million bail but has not yet been charged with a crime.
CHS reported here on the Seattle Police Department’s report on the slaying as witnesses said Carlee was agitated and yelling about a “child molester” when he pulled a knife and began fighting with Thompson before pulling out a handgun and opening fire.
Police say Carlee was one of the multiple 911 callers who reported the just before 10:30 PM shooting. “That was me. This guy was punching me and shit,” police say Carlee told the 911 operator.
Police recovered eight shell casings at the scene. Three fired bullets were recovered, “two of
which were underneath the body of the victim,” according to the report on the killing.
Saturday, Carlee was ordered held on $2 million bail for investigation of Murder in the Second Degree. The King County Prosecutor’s office says it expects to be able to make a charging decision in the case next week.
Carlee, a Seattle resident, has no previous serious criminal record in King County.
In 2011, Thompson was sentenced to 20 years in prison for first degree burglary and assaulting two women in South Seattle. It is not clear when he was released but the Washington Department of Corrections filed an “end of supervision” form for Thompson in the case in the summer of 2025.
