Rash of small trash and brush fires continues including possible arson in Harborview parking structure

A rash of small fires including dumpster, trash, and brush incidents across the East Precinct over the weekend has continued with Seattle Fire handling 14 more reported incidents over the past three days — including five overnight.

One has been reported as a suspected arson. Seattle Fire called in the Seattle Police Department to investigate a suspected intentionally set fire in the parking structure behind Harborview late Thursday night just after 11 PM, according to emergency radio updates. SFD reports its crews responded to a car on fire in a parking garage where the blaze was extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system.

Five more small fires were reported around the area overnight including an early morning dumpster fire on Bellevue Ave and a just before 1:30 AM fire on Federal Ave E but there were no immediate signs that the incidents were connected.

Seattle Fire had a busy weekend responding to at least twelve outdoor rubbish, dumpster, and brush incidents across Capitol Hill, the Central District, and First Hill.

There were no injuries or significant damage reported.

A car was targeted in a Sunday night incident in the Central District along Hiawatha Place S where police say callers reported a suspect broke a vehicle window and set a vehicle on fire outside an apartment building. Responding officers detained a suspect seen walking and he was arrested and booked for investigation of arson.
